Don Carlos, Prince de Bourbon
This remarkable historic suite was once occupied by the Infante Don Carlos de Bourbon, Carlist King Charles V, during his exile at the Hôtel de Panette from 1839 to 1845. Staying here means stepping into one of the mansion’s most singular chapters. The 40 sqm suite offers an atmosphere that is both majestic and serene: a print room, refined decoration, quality bedding, parquet flooring, a sitting area, a desk and large openings onto the garden. The quiet is deep, almost secluded. The bathroom, with both shower and bathtub, extends the rare feeling of a historic place turned into a refuge.
Le Marquis de Tristan
The Marquis de Tristan would surely have appreciated the comfort this room offers today. He was the man behind the present mansion, built from 1757 on the site of the former Hôtel des Trésoriers de la Sainte-Chapelle, before his son sold it to the Marquis de Panette in 1818. Today, this 35 sqm historic room offers an intimate stay in the hushed atmosphere of an 18th-century private mansion. Oak flooring, a small sitting area, a quiet desk and a bathroom with bathtub create a refined sense of comfort. A room where you can sleep within history, while enjoying the pleasure of a true moment for two.
Le Picard de Phélippeaux
This sunny room overlooking the garden evokes Antoine Le Picard de Phélippeaux, a royalist artillery officer who took refuge at the Hôtel de Panette in 1795. A romantic figure of the Berry region, he led a royalist uprising before following an extraordinary destiny. Today, this 25 sqm room retains something of that discreet sense of retreat. Exposed beams, 18th-century terracotta floor tiles, a sitting area with desk, shower and bathrobes create a bright and peaceful room, ideal for a stay for two, or with a baby. A quiet refuge in the heart of Bourges, within the intimacy of the private mansion.
